Hi folks,

I wanted to share info about a cool little project I've recently learned about. This guy Valerian Hrala, who runs a coffee-roasting school (?!) in Marin, has started hiding bags of freshly roasted coffee along his recreational Marin rides. He posts videos on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram showing each "treasure's" location, and there's a website where you can let him know if you find the goodies.

I don't know Valerian personally, but I thought this was just too fun not to share. (This message is also not an endorsement of his business, nor of any given social medium.) Also, the three SFR rides this weekend will be passing right by the locations of most of his recent drops, so, um, we could basically clean him out ;)

Links:

And if you're interested, treasures #8, 9, and 10 are along the Sleepy Hollow Populaire route; #11, 12, and 13 are along the Healdsburg 300K route; and #14 is along the Fault Line 200K route. I call dibs on #11 ;)

Good hunting,
 - Drew

PS. These treasures were all apparently dropped yesterday, so the coffee should be plenty fresh.

Hi All,

Drew - thanks so much for sharing this. I DO know Valerian, and he's the nicest guy and a true coffee tasting professional (in fact his "day job" is as a coffee educator where he teaches people how to roast coffee and open their own cafes). If you're a coffee geek...he works with Boot Coffee Campus (like the Brad Pitt of coffee ;)

Anyway...he started this project to celebrate his 50th birthday and create a community celebration that lasts all year long. That's why he's doing these coffee drops.

If you're on social media - give him a follow on IG @valerian_rides
Or follow him on Strava Valerian Hrala

Thanks so much for sharing this. He's really keen to get more love on his socials....so give him a follow!
cheers
lisa
