Hi All,

I am planning to ride Audax UK's Land's End to John O'Groats this September.

Here is their website: https://lejog1400audax.com/

I am curious if anyone else is contemplating this ride or has done it before even perhaps as a tour.

Hi Geoff,

I rode this the "easy way" i.e. as a supported 10-day tour in 2021 and couldn't recommend the general route highly enough - it was fantastic!  Of course doing it as a Randonneur over only 6 days will be a much tougher challenge (I got to sleep in a bed every night, ate great food along the way and even had time to stop and enjoy some of the sites along the way) but I'm sure you'll love it.

If you have any general questions please ping me privately and I'll be happy to answer whatever I can (with the caveat that I did it the easier way :D )

Here's a Strava pointer to the first day as a taster:

Cheers,

    Paul Capewell.

Thanks Paul! And to others who replied to me separately.  Great to have this info!  I may reach out separately as the ride gets closer.

Geoff.

Excellent website, thank you for sharing it. A close friend in the UK rode it last year in about 12 days, and really enjoyed it. I also had the amazing opportunity to fly over and join a coached velodrome track session last autumn in Derby, England which was terrifying and exhilarating! The four coaches all race on my Zwift team, but are UCI masters champions on the track. Relevant to this thread though, one of our coaches held the women’s record for a solo LEJOG for many years, but 25 years ago she and a friend broke the Mixed Tandem World Record in 2 days 3 hours 19 mins and 23 secs. Their record still stands! I’d love to do LEJOG at a leisurely pace one day, but will settle for two weeks of riding with teammates in Yorkshire this summer. Best wishes to anyone doing LEJOG!

I’ve considered doing LEJOG for many years now. There seem to be many tour groups, formats and ideologies on how to prepare for the ride, (i.e., weather, equipment, renting equipment, etc.). I would love to hear how you did it, and of course, details. I have never rode in the UK, but I did a ride from Bilbao to Tarifa, Spain over several weeks of heat and climbing supported by Saddle Skedaddle seven years ago. It was memorable. I also did PBP in 07 and am an active rider, but not nearly the same grisled monster I was! I want to experience and enjoy, not just collapse at the end of each day.
I would appreciate knowing your experience and learning of your lessons-learned and recommendations.
