Hi all,

Two things:

  1. Reminder, there is a "BikeStory: PBP" bike event on Thursday 9/19 at Lucky Duck Bicycle Cafe in Oakland (details below for non-Facebookers)

  2. I'm also looking for volunteers who are participating during this year's PBP to share their experiences. Please e-mail me if you are interested in speaking (otherwise I'll have to fill the time with my standup routine, *gulp*)

Details

Event: BikeStory: Paris Brest Paris Edition

Date: Thursday September 19, 2019

Time: 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Location: Lucky Duck Bicycle Cafe (Oakland) - 302 12th St, Oakland, CA 94607

September's theme will be Paris Brest Paris focused and riders will be sharing their 2019 PBP experiences. Lucky Duck is a great community space and they agreed to host the event, so make sure to support them by purchasing some food and drinks during the event!

Hi all,

I would like to remind everyone that I am still organizing a recap event of PBP 2019 and am soliciting stories from riders.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 19th at Lucky Duck Bicycle Cafe in Oakland, between 6pm and 9pm. More information is located here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/2290123904569548/

My intent is to provide a platform for riders to tell a short anecdote or story from PBP. I’m looking for feelings that stuck with you, or something that was extremely touching for you during the event, or anything else that you would like to share to an audience of both PBP participants and non-participants. I am hoping to get a diverse perspective of riders and stories to capture a well rounded representation of PBP.

I encourage you to submit a brief anecdote and I will organize the list of presenters. Here are some guidelines to read if you are interested:

1. Read over these storytelling’s guidelines from The Moth podcast (
https://themoth.org/share-your-story/storytelling-tips-tricks)

2. If you have visual elements that may help tell your story, please submit them along with your story. It doesn’t need to be a Powerpoint presentation, some photos or even existing Instagram posts or other links may be useful

3. Practice telling your story! Reading from a printout for 5 minutes is the worse thing you can do to an audience.

4. Keep it under 5 minutes! Save the full ride report for your blog

5. Details are important but remember this event is for also friends and families who did not attend PBP and will not care about the minutia of how the control was setup in Tinténiac vs Fougères, etc...

If you’ve read this far and are still interested, please e-mail me your story, start group number, and any other visual elements you want included in the presentation. Deadline for submissions will be Saturday September 15th.

Please tell friends, family and other randos about the event as well!
