In 2026 there are several options for U.S. Grand Randonnées to help members prepare for PBP the following year. Here in Minnesota, we know through rider feedback and firsthand experience that we are offering one of the best 1200Ks in the USA: the Coulee Challenge 1200K.
This year we are redoubling our commitment to live up to that reputation. And we are asking for your support! Would you please send the following announcement to anyone you feel might be interested? This will truly be an amazing and memorable event for all involved.

The MN Randonneurs are hosting the 3rd Coulee Challenge August 6-9, 2026. This ride has the reputation of being one of the most beautiful in the USA! Featuring some of the least touched natural beauty and history, including 18 miles on the first rail trail along with two of its stunning rock tunnels, this route takes you through part of the country few get to see.
The Coulee Challenge has also earned unanimous praise for being one of the best-organized “unsupported” events on the RUSA calendar. That said, for the last Coulee, there was 1 volunteer for every 2 riders. With this ratio, you know you will be in good hands.
The Coulee Challenge and PBP terrain are very similar. The Coulee provides perfect preparation before heading to France. Or the best substitute if international travel is not in the cards in ‘27.
The Coulee Challenge only happens once every four years. Don’t miss the 2026 edition.
