I want to thank you all for your support and prayers for Sophie. It has been a
roller coaster ride for her family the past few weeks as they waited to talk to
different doctors and decide what the next step should be. Blue Cross and Blue
Shield continued to deny treatment and I only wonder how those who make such a
decision would feel if Sophie was their child. This is where I would normally
mention Karma but I am trying to let go of the negative and just keep positive
prayers for Sophie in my heart and mind. A study opened up at St Jude in
Memphis and Sophie has been accepted. The treatment is very scary but Sophie is
a very sick little girl who is running out of options. I have put Gretchen's
last letter below for you to read. I want to echo Gretchen's request that you
put Sophie in your prayers.

Well we have been up to Lost Lake this last weekend with the Budd family,
Sophie's cousins. It was so beautiful up there and she fished and even got in
the water knee deep is all. Her Hickman line prevents her from swimming. She
loves to swim, so this has been hard.

Sunday night she started feeling bad and then came a fever......so we had to
hop in the car and drive toUW from Lost lake Four and a half hours later we
were in the ER. Her fever had gone down on it's own and Thank God she wasn't
worse. They brought us up to P4. She had low counts again, so we did a blood
transfusion. She started feeling much better and we did too. Sleeping in chairs
and arranging our schedules. We all three gave blood that day to be shipped up
to Memphis. St.Jude has called and are requesting us to come! We will leave
this Sunday from Milwaukee and may be there for a while??? They said to be
prepared to stay.....she does not know yet, because we wanted her to have a
relaxing vacation. We are up at my sisters lake place today in Lake Delavan and
we will leave this afternoon for home and do labs again. Making sure she
doesn't need any more blood for the trip. We are extremely scared of what the
future holds for us....and also a little excited to be going to St. Jude. We
feel like this study has opened and is real and we shall see how it all falls
into place. We feel like there are a very smart place where children are given
the best care. This transplant if we get to do it Has many risks that will be
difficult to get through.....she will have to be in confinement for a very
long time up there and we will be praying for the miracle we will need for all
this to work. It does seem like the unknown, but it also seems like the only
thing right to do. She wants a long life here and this could give her a better
chance at it. So please pray for us as we go there on Sunday and discover whats
in store for her. I can only hold on to my hope and would rather do this than
sit back and wait and see if it comes back. She has a much better chance, we
think after she gets through this. Please pray for remission and the stem cell
to work!! God has been with us all the way so far and I feel he will lead us to
the right treatments with his guiding hand. I will let you know what's
happening once we get there. Thank you for your prayers.
Please pray for our Sophie June! Please ask in your prayer that he connect us
with the right doctors and continue to place his hands on our family to give us
his strength and complete trust. She is a beautiful,

strong girl and if this is the right choice for her path to please shine bright
his light and lead us.

Donna, thank you so much for having us all over last night. I had a
blast and I know that Thomas was blessed to have gotten to meet all of
you. Anna and Caroline - you were greatly missed!
