Hi guys,

As I was driving around Fremont today breaking in my new gears, I saw an either green or black cruiser with a Hanna rear bumper, ARB front bumper, and a big storage device thing on the roof.  It was parked on Blacow Rd.   I live just down the street if it is anyone on here.  I posted this on the mud list as well.

Initial impressions on the gears.  Well, being that I haven’t driven my truck in nearly 3 weeks, one forgets how it drives, but the first impression I got is that it doesn’t struggle taking off anymore from a dead stop.  I had thought that it would be like driving around in low 4 for some reason, but it isn’t that bad at all.  I have not yet had it out on the freeway, but I am planning on it tomorrow.  I am going to take my gps and see how far off the speedo is now.  As far as any noise from gears, its dead silent.  My friend did a sweet job on setting them up.  He called me at work today and said bring it in after work as he just wanted to double check everything and ask how it was running.  That’s something you don’t see much anymore, concern about a customer and a friend and good customer service.

Jon.

If you need any help installing a yellowbox for speedo correction, let
me know. It took me about an hour to do mine.

Hi Brian,

How well does that work? After setting it up (I have not even looked at the
yellow box thing yet)is it pretty accurate? Is this the one that Slee sells
or a different one?

VERY accurate... You do have a 94 - 97 LC/LX, right? If so this thing
is perfect. I dialed mine in that according to my GPS, I'm only off 1
mph at 75 mph (Speedo says 75, GPS says 74). Here is where it seems
that most people on MUD are getting theirs:

Thanks Brian,

I will read up on that tonight after work.

is the yellow box rec'd for anything over 35's, or anything over

Drive fast? Nah, not me. I tend to drive in the slow lane doing 65-70 tops.
With the occasional 75 to pass someone if need be. I set up my scan gauge
as a temporary fix for knowing my speed. Kind of funny, had to adjust for
35's and then readjust for having 5.29s lol. I imagine that the yellow box
is a good thing to have to have an accurate speedometer as well as having a
more precise way to know mileage for maintenance reasons.

I am looking forward to the Hollister trip now. Its been awhile since ive
gone wheeling.

The yellowbox can correct up to +/- 28% of your speedo in increments
of .5%. The big thing other than a corrected speedo is that the
perceived speed by the ecu is used for fuel/air mixture ratios, shift
points, etc. When I moved up to 315's and before I installed the
yellowbox, my LC would hold the gear for WAY too long before up-
shifting.
