Well, I did get my truck back today. Got to the shop after work, paid the bill, got my keys went to start it. Wouldn’t start. Used shops portable jumper box, started up. Wasn’t real happy as I had just bought a Diehard Platinum battery 1 month ago. Went to my doctor appt, truck barely started when I left. Went home, rummaged around for the receipt, couldn’t find it, said screw it, drove to sears @ the mall. Dude said it would be 3 hours for testing the battery, he thought I had the battery outside. I told him its outside IN my truck. He said, oh, that’s different (I don’t understand how, but whatever) that will only take about 30 minutes and that will be 12.99 since you didn’t have us install your battery. Whatever, go ahead. Sears dude comes out a bit later, drives my truck around and opens hood and puts some clamps on the battery from some box. His buddies are standing around looking at the snorkel on my truck obviously wondering what its for, staring at the samco hoses I used for the heater hoses, and just wondering what kind of nutjob would do this to a Lexus. ME 8-)
Well, I walk over and he says the box tells him he needs to put my battery on a fast charger/test box. Fine. 10 minutes later, umm, the battery only goes to 62%. I say, that’s not good. He says yeah, we have to replace your battery. Oh, we don’t have that one in stock. Groan, I am dying here. Guy says we have some lower grade batteries we can use, nope, I want the marine deep cycle platinum then. He looks at me funny, and says you can use that…(wow…I wanna get out of here fast) yes I reply. Get it put in, all is fine. They test alternator, fine. New battery ended up costing me 10$ since it was a little bit more than the normal platinum battery. As for the 5.29s, I cant really say if things are different as I haven’t driven it much yet. But, the new rotors, pads (100 series in front) make the beast stop a lot quicker now.
Jon.
