The product's model number is essential to finding correct MTD genuine factory replacement part numbers for your Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Remington, Yard-Man, White Outdoor and MTD Gold outdoor power equipment. The Model number is eleven characters long and is printed on the left side of the Product Identification Label. Characters can include numbers, letters or hyphens.

WARRANTY ADDENDUM. IMPORTANT: This addendum defines the start of the warranty period. The applicable Warranty Period will begin on the original date of purchase of the Product or on the date of delivery of the Product, whichever is later.

I recently sent in my laptop to HP for repair and they sent me a receipt. I compared their receipt to my documents and I noticed that the model number they gave me (LM332AV) does not much the Product number on my documents (LM720AV). Although, they got the serial number correct.

Since the numbers are so similar to each other, my train of though is that a model number is the same thing as product number. Therefore, I was thinking of calling them before they put in the wrong parts but I'm not sure if I'm mistaken.

Back when I was a tech at a repair shop, I noticed the same thing. It seems they use different model/product numbers (usually 2) for each product. One used publicly (i.e. for customers/store shelves/adverts) and another 'internally' (e.g. for repairs/ordering parts).

there is a specific model number that delineates the machine that it is affixed to , while the "chassis number" (think the old RCA "CTC-xxx" schematics) that were good for at least 3-4 production models .

usually coded into the model number (or service number in some cases) are the optional/specific "chunks" that make one machine different from another (the dell service tags are a good example of this) . there may be a "master list" that tells what options/specific chunks are associated with a machine number .

Unfortunately this level of detail isn't encoded in the serial number - it's mostly place & time of manufacture. Support may be able to assist if each serial number was registered at the point or time of sale, but it's not something that can be derived programatically.

Thank you for contact us, we can help you but I think it will be faster if you give us a call at this number, 800-800-4272, option 5, then option 1, then option 1, thats the number to contact tech support, if you provide them all the serial numbers they will be able to take a look the warranty status.

Is there a way to get the actual model number off the UPS? Doing a search on the model listed from the web turns up multiple options (Ex. Smart-UPS RT 3000 RM XL)

Is there a way to lookup the serial number and get the model? APC's support site requires a model but it doesn't check to see if the model is correct.

Thanks
wes

SMT3000RM2U is a valid model number if that is what shows in the NMC menu.. here it is on the website. -Smart-UPS-3000VA-LCD-RM-2U-120V/P-SMT3000RM2U is the URL for that UPS showing it as a valid number.

Is it possible you are logging into one UPS and looking at another in the rack accidentally? I don't know how a sticker saying SUA3000RMUS would end up on a SMT model. Does the UPS have an LCD on it and look like the one in the picture (at the link I sent) that you are physically looking at? An SUA model UPS would have just an LED display and two buttons on the front panel.

I understand there is maybe more to the story here but I don't see why support wouldn't accept the model number SMT3000RM2U unless it does not line up with some other bits of info you provided (like battery model # - which also we've added to the GUI like you said).

Hello,

The best way to find the actual model number is to look on the UPS itself. On the back, there should be a white sticker/label that has the exact model and serial numbers listed. More than likely it will begin with SURT3000 for the model you've described.

Thanks.

Yes why can't we see the model number in the NMC console - it's really painful to have to look on the back of a unit that's been on the bottom of a rack for 5 years moving all sorts of dust and cables out of the way just to read a model number. While you are at it can you put the battery number information in the GUI as well...I'm sick of Sherlocking this stuff.

Hi - we have added this information to the NMC console for devices that support it. Unfortunately if it is an older UPS model that isn't capable of reporting it, NMC can't read it. I know that may not help but we definitely have addressed it for most new offers like Smart-UPS (those with prefix SMT, SRT, and SMX.) It is also displayed via front panel LCD if there is one. I think some Smart-UPS also started putting labels behind the front bezels instead of just the back.

I should've also said, it requires a UPS Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) device or one that has a mini NMC2 inside for Smart-UPS since that is what the newer model prefixes that I mentioned support. In that firmware, there is an About->UPS or About->*device type* menu in the web. And some others list the model under an About->Network menu.

Ok let's take take an example, a 3 year old Smart UPS , Model name: Smart-UPS 3000 RM , when I go to that location in the NMC the model number is SMT3000RM2U, but that is not the same model number that is on the sticker, the only one support will take, which is SUA3000RMUS.

Normally I expect to see a Model field such as "HP EliteBook 830 G5" and an Asset tag field such as "P1000479" and they are combined in a "Display Name" field such to "P1000479 - HP EliteBook 830 G5".

Model can come from a creation if a CMDB record is created with a valid model category then an asset record gets generated etc. If you have a transform map that is adding CI's some of the model description vary and if you haven't got it set right it creates similar records. If they are valid model category the model is created etc. You can also see transform maps adding data to the alm_hardware table directly. Again if transform is not set for the ref choice of ignore it will create if different etc.

In your example some of your labels look custom, it may just be labels but it may also be worth checking if they are custom fields. Also you have short description field in the general tab that doesn't usually appear on asset etc.

Many thanks for response. Our records are created using System Import sets/transform map, CMDB CI creation (depending on Model Category) or Discovery. I am new to this team so I will check transform maps and if we use custom fields. One last question, I am thinking of changing the Product Display Name but since it is used in Service Catalog and so many laptops reference it, will it cause issue if I change it? Thanks again.

SA is a Dell application that is pre-installed on your Windows computer. It uses updates and proactive resolution features to help identify and prevent issues. When you open the application, your product model is displayed.

BIOS stands for basic input or output system. The BIOS or UEFI firmware runs after you turn on your computer. It checks that your hardware is working and then allows the operating system to start. You can access the BIOS to find basic hardware information about your Dell computer and its hardware without using the operating system.

Some newer appliance model/serial tags have QR codes that can be scanned with your smart phone or tablet. This will open a web browser on your device and take you directly to information pertaining to your specific product.

I have a Sharp TV (model LC-58Q7330U) that will not start up. Just shows the Roku logo for a few seconds and then turns off, shows the logo a few seconds, turns off in an endless loop. I wanted to try to recovery it by using a USB drive with a firmware image. I'm unable to acquire this as I don't know the Roku Model Number and since the TV is in a boot loop I can't access any menus to see it.

I'm currently having this issue with my 58 inch Sharp Roku tv. Tv worked great up until 2/6/21. Turned the tv on that day and it'll go to the Sharp-Roku TV logo in white display page, disappear to a black screen then continue flashing the Sharp-Roku TV logo in white logo then back to black screen continuously. I don't know if this was an update issue or what but Roku support is virtually no help at all. If anyone knows a solution for this, post it please. I have a 58 inch paperweight on my hands that I'm ready to throw out the window.

I call it collusion tactics. Nobody's responsible for anything. It's the constant theme. (The person's thread you replied to had to divine the Roku model number from thin air. There's no cross reference -- even though customers repeatedly demonstrate a need for it. That's how obfuscated the boundaries are. There's different model numbers depending on who you talk to.).
