Ihave downloaded the Mitsubishi Pajero Auto (An FSX Update for MSFS) and want to put it in the
"Airplane" file to activate and "Fly" Drive on the roads. I could do this easily in FSX but I can't 'Read"
MSFS files to know where Aircraft is located.
Navigating the file system for the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 can indeed be a bit of a challenge. The way that MSFS structures its files is somewhat different from the way Flight Simulator X (FSX) does it. You'll find that aircraft files are not stored in an 'Airplane' file as they used to be in FSX, instead they're nestled under the 'Community' or 'Official' folders.
Remember, the 'Community' folder is where you will install add-ons and updates that you've obtained from third-party developers. The 'Official' folder, on the other hand, is strictly for the base game and its updates.
I hope this helps you get back in the 'air' soon! Remember, these steps can change with future updates to MSFS 2020, so always keep an eye out for notes in patches or updates that may indicate changes to the file structure or location.

I was wondering the other day.. does the tail of an airplane really do much?I know the rudder is located there, and that there are several hydraulic pipes (or whatever it's called) inside the tail, but besides that, does it have other purposes?It'...
Some programs require you to edit your FS9.cfg file. To do this, follow these steps. Note: This file is usually located within the %appdata% \Microsoft\FS9 folder.1.Click Start, and then click Run. 2.In the Open box, type the following: %appdata%\Mi...

Hi,I look for a reliable person to design an airplane for MS flight simulator. The Airplane exists and is based on an Antonov model. We like to be able to give out customers an add-on for MSFS to be able to fly our airplane. We are looking for quality i...
The Community folder of your Microsoft Flight Simulator installation is the place where scenery add-ons and liveries are installed by dropping the downloaded folders in there. However, locating the Community folder often can be a mess, since the path is different depending which platform you were using to install Microsoft Flight Simulator.
You may have selected a custom location to install Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on your drive during installation progress. In this case, you need to locate the path you chosed to install MSFS on. You can use the in-game developer tools to do so.
As far as I am aware you cannot separate the Community folder from the main scenery and aircraft folder next to it. And I don't think you can move them. The best thing to do is bite the bullet, and uninstall MSFS completely, then re-install in a different folder or different disk drive. There will still be some stuff in the default locations, but most there will just be links to wherever you put it.
Well enough, thank you, but feeling my age (78 this year) -- aching knees, painful back and hips. Slowly becoming a couch potato, except I insisted on getting another dog when the last one died, to force me to get exercise and fresh air every day! ?
If you haven't bitten then bullet yet and reinstalled, you could try MSFS Add-on Linker, available at
flightsim.to. That let's you install add-ons anywhere and then links them to the community folder.
I used MOD Manager to make a backup of the Community folder, but it will not back up the One Store subfolder - so I cannot make any links until the folder structure is fully installed on my H: drive so that it can be recognised as such.
So I'm just setting up my Orbx library, but I generally like to keep things installed directly into the sim for my own organisational purposes. I noted when I installed MSFS I had to choose a packages location, within which are "Official" and "Community" folders. The "Official" folder contains another folder "OneStore" and within that it seems to have downloaded all the airports, aircraft etc that come with the default installation.
Hi. I've got a problem with EGNM. It appears to be installed in Orbx Central straight into the sim folder, but it doesn't show up in the Content manager (actually none of my Orbx products shows up in the manager) and when I load up the airport it is the default one. EGLC, LOWI are fine. Should I move the folders from 'community' to 'official' to make it visible in the sim?
You can update your currently saved airport locations by quickly going to them from the grid, and then save them again. They will be updated with the new runway and parking data, if available, but your tags will be overwritten with auto-generated tags to show runways, parking, and ils. You will lose any existing tag data. Apololgies for that, but I not could come up with a good solution in the case where someone did multiple saves, so just went with overwriting tags for now.
Aircraft Manager and Location Manager are unique addons designed to improve the UX (User Experience) that are enabled by integrating custom code into the core files that make up the MSFS UI system. The MSFS UI system has not been designed as an extendable system to incorporate 3rd party additions such as AM and LM, so the only way to extend it to provide these UX improvements is to override the core MSFS UI files with the custom code. The benefits are obvious, with a vastly improved UX to solve many pain points that the user community has recognised, but there are also a couple of risks you should be aware of, and how to mitigate them if you have issues.
So it seems MSFS 2024 User Interface system is undergoing a complete rewrite for MSFS 2024, and as such AM & LM in their current form will remain as MSFS 2020 addons only due to the changes in the underlying UI framework that will come as part of that. I suspect that the Control Profiles and Favorites noted above are unlikely to be done for MSFS 2020, and they will instead implement it properly as part of MSFS 2024.

Note: Free version support is limited compared to the payware version.
There is no obligation to upgrade, the free version is free and contains a lot of useful functionality to save you time and give you more insight into your aircraft and locations. Enjoy.
The Aircraft Manager allows you to control presets quickly and automatically, whilst the ability to save notes allows you to save relevant information against each aircraft installed. Furthermore, there is an auto convert feature which will change the units from metric to imperial (and vice versa) at the click of a button. Overall, the aircraft manager now gives you a lot more options.
As for the Location Manager tool, you will be able to use it to start anywhere in the world, save up to 200 locations and sort airports based on a range of criteria. As with the aircraft manager, you can adjust the menus to your liking as it overhauls the main menu in the simulator.
