the newest update includes a way to recreate your island from your in-game map. it's not 100% perfect since there is only so much i can interpret from the in-game map, but hopefully it will be a close enough jumping off point to help

most notably, water and paths cover up height information, so anywhere you have water and paths on your island probably wont get transferred over properly. because of this, after uploading your map, you'll have to manually adjust the height of anything under a water tile before clicking "add water" at the bottom left to have your map properly uploaded. thank you for understanding !!

Maybe i'm not quite understanding what this tool is.
The issue I have with ACNH is that the animations of terraforming are so slow, it is painful to create cliffs and rivers on an island because of them.

Does this tool allow me to create an island, and upload and APPLY the changes to my animal crossing island on my switch? Or, is this essentially a tool where you can design an island, then have to manually copy it tile-by-tile on to your island on your switch by following along as I play my switch?

Considering the update that's dropping November 5th, this is gonna help a lot to finalize my island. I've done very little terraforming to it because I straight up didn't know what I wanted to do. With Kappn coming back plus this, I can finally get my island finished almost a year later.

okay I saved my file on the desktop version of this planner because I didn't think I would need to download it, but I can't for the life of me figure out where it went. Is /idbfs/islandplanner/saves/islandmanager.island even a thing?? I'm on windows and i've never seen idbfs in file explorer. I spent a lot of time creating my island using this planner so please any help on where the heck my saved file went would be appreciated

Thank you for the apps and it is really helpful! There's only one thing that need to be change, in this planner, I'm able to put fence and bridge in same box, but on my island, the fence and bridge is unable to put in the same box. I was forced to change my plan when the bridge was built. The size of bridge is 4x4. Hope that this setting can be changed and it will be more convenient on island planning.

Thank you for creating this app! I just started terraforming my island and this will be super useful. There are too many posts to see if my question has been addressed. Does the zoom feature enable seeing the complete island at once? I can zoom large, which is great for working specific areas but I can't seem to zoom smaller to get the overall picture of my planning. Do you plan on future updates? I would gladly pay if affordable. Your work and commitment of time is appreciated! Gran

With so many possibilities for designs though, it can feel pretty overwhelming working on your island sometimes and the slowness of the Island Designer tools in-game make the process pretty cumbersome if you want to test out new ideas.

With a few clicks of your mouse, you can easily use these tools to manipulate the 3D environment just as if you were using the in-game tools found in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Using this app makes for a great way to test out and prototype new island design ideas before you commit to implementing them in your actual game.

Other features such as a mini-map, multi selection for moving, beach shape editing, and more are in the plans too.

Ginny and Richard celebrated with their family and friends the legacy they have spent 50 years (to the minute) building for their family. Ginny reached out to me last February looking for an Long Beach Island event planner. She and Richard were most excited about creating a memory for their children and grandchildren to look back on and remember for the rest of their lives. And, boy, did they ever! Now, they get to relive the celebration one more time! Congratulations Ginny & Richard!

This island group in the Aegean is known for its classic whitewashed hilltop towns and turquoise seas. We answered many of the questions we received, but if you want more intel, see our Cyclades list from last year here (which we also lightly cribbed from below).

Most of you know that this country is near and dear to my heart. I went for the first time in 1985, as a high school junior tagging along with my friend’s family who brought me to Mykonos–and it blew my Bay Area mind. I returned the following year, renting an apartment in Mykonos for the month of August, and basically doing what high school graduates do when they have their first taste of freedom. But I’d signed up for a 4 month long college program on the sleepy island of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese that was to start as soon as the partying stopped, and that was what really changed my life. Since then, I’ve spent a lot of time in Greece, visiting lots of different places–but never enough. It’s always the same problem, I fall in love with a place, and the people, and then I want to go back and see them again–which means not exploring as much as I want to. Putting together this Planner has been so great for me—I’ve learned so much from so many of the very generous friends and experts who have shared their favorites, and it’s forced me to pull my notes and lists out of all of their many places and put them all down here. Because the majority of your questions focused on the islands—which ones make sense to visit together, the quietest or the most fun for a multi-gen family, the best authentic tavernas and where to find sandy vs. rocky beaches–we decided, once again, to break our Planner into two: this week the islands, next week the mainland and Peloponnese, plus a few more of your general questions around renting boats, houses, and more. Πάμε! (Pame=let’s go!)

I love Milos and its relaxed, down-to-earth vibe. Because it is so rich in minerals, it hasn’t had to rely on tourism the way so many others have; locals aren’t jaded and there are more stores that cater to people who actually live there, rather than loads of expensive boutiques. It has so many beautiful beaches and doesn’t have one main town that everyone gravitates to, so even at the height of summer it doesn’t heave the way some of the over-touristed islands do. Skinopi Lodge, a modernist-style property overlooking the sea, is our spot. It was pretty much love at first sight with its owner, Nausika Georgiadou—smart, strong, opinionated, charming, great taste, captains her own boat! Everything is so intelligently and thoughtfully done—plus outdoor kitchen and shower, and the best sunset views. Every day Nausika told us what beach to go to—looking at the wind charts to see where would be the best for that day, and then she’d come up with the lunch suggestion based on that. My favorites are Medousa (in Mandrakia)–one of the most photographed restaurants on the island, with its seafront location and octopus hanging on the line. While it often has a wait, there are the most charming syrmata (colorful cave boathouses) to wander around. Taverna Embourious, (simple and fresh with tables right on the water), O Hamos (in Adamas, lovely for a late lunch–dinner is too crowded), and the souvlaki spot O Gyros in Adamas is great for a simple fast lunch. If you take a boat to neighboring island Kimolos, To Kyma is excellent–a feet in the sand kind of place that makes delicious imam (baked eggplant). For dinner my favorite is Ergina in Tripiti, which makes the best “grandma” food. And Palaios bakery in Plaka is a nice place to get coffee and orange cake in the morning. —Y.E.

Rated one of the most romantic islands in the world by Travel and leisure Magazine, Catalina Island is the perfect place to set the date for a destination wedding or vow renewal. Catalina Island wedding locations are always breathtakingly beautiful with Pacific Ocean views, rocky cliffs and lush landscapes making the perfect back drop for your ceremony.

Once settled on the island, I started performing ceremonies on weekends again. Here I was, living on an island, thinking it was my best life. But at the end of the day, an office job with a view of the beach is still an office job.

You may not be able to play Animal Crossing proper on your PC, but now there's an Island Planner that lets you design your very own village layout. Created by Rob Fichman, the Island Planner lets you figure out your terraforming plans before you commit to them in your actual game. It's great because the terraforming in Animal Crossing itself kinda sucks, and the Planner makes it much easier to organise where you want to put houses, rivers, bridges and all that good stuff. But I don't think you even need to have Animal Crossing to enjoy this free game, because it's quite fun just to mess around making cute little island designs.
