Snagit 2022 and later automatically merge libraries that are in the same folder. To merge libraries from these versions, therefore, move your current Snagit library to the location of the library you want to merge it with. Then move the library back to the desired location.

The SAM System Property which auto-creates models can be both a help and a hindrance. It's very useful for identification of SW in your environment you weren't aware of, but it can also complicate reconciliation in situations such as you've presented here. You might try turning the property to off in a Dev environment and removing the extra SW Models for which you don't have a linked SW Entitlement. Then go the route I first suggested of altering the Discovery Map section of the remaining SW Model to capture all of the 12.x flavors of Discovery Model you have in your system. Hopefully, this resolves the issue. If not, feel free to reach out to me. My email address is on my Community Profile.

You could do this a couple of different ways. You could normalize the discovery map, or create a pattern normalization rule that would normalize all dot versions up to the main version. Just make sure your software model is pointing to the correct discovery map.

The method I recommend to our customers is to alter the Discovery Map attribute on the SW Model. You can choose an out of box map that returns all of the desired values or you can remove the discovery map and fill in the corresponding values yourself.

In the "Related Links" section of the form, just above the tabs showing the related lists, click the "Show Matching Discovery Models" UI Action. This will open a new tab containing all of the Discovery Maps whose related software installations will be considered during reconciliation.

My assumption is that the software model doesn't reference a SnagIt software entitlement that has a Publisher Part Number associated which means an OOB discovery map will not be auto-assigned and discovery mapping conditions will be based on the Publisher, Product and Version set on the software model record which means that the license calculator only reconciles installs and purchased rights when the installed version of SnagIt = 12.

We attempted that suggested methods prior to submitting my question here with the exception of creating a Pattern Normalization Rule. When we reviewed the possibility of using the Pattern Normalization Rule it seems that we are limited to a single version per publisher. Am I missing something here?

After copying an image from Snagit 2018 to the clipboard, I attempted to paste the image into a note. Regardless of whether I use the shortcut key or the Edit menu paste options, the image does not appear. The cursor moves to the right the width of the image, but then just stays there. The image is not visible.

Also, the default hot key for paste (Ctrl-Alt-V) does not paste, but causes a new blank note to be created. If I reassign Ctrl-V to the paste operation, I get the same result: a new note gets created instead of a paste operation occurring. If I save the Snagit image to disk, then drag-drop it to Evernote, that works. But it's annoying that clipboard operations are broken.

Ctrl+Alt+V is the default Evernote shortcut for the "Paste to Evernote" operation ("Paste clipboard" in Tools / Options), meaning the contents of the clipboard will be pasted into a new note. Ctrl+V is the standard Windows key for 'Paste' (i.e., paste into the location that currently has focus. If you override Ctrl+V with "Paste to Evernote", then it's going to do a "Paste to Evernote" operation. If you want to paste to the current note, go back to the default settings, and use Ctrl+V, which is a standard paste operation.

I've notices in the last couple of betas that the paste location for attachments isn't quite right, but images seem to be working fine. I don't use Snagit; I just use the Evernote screen clipper, which can put screen caps onto the clipboard.

It's a bit sporadic, but I seem to be able to reproduce the issue by expanding the size of the image I snagged. So if I drag one of the corners out in Snagit Editor, and paste it into an EN note, I only get the blank line the width of the image.

Applies to: 6.15.3.7881 (307881) Public (CE Build ce-53.2.6641): Similar to hanseric if I use any "Effects" in my Snagit Preset when I capture a screen image, it will not paste into Evernote. However, if I don't use any Effects and just do a copy and paste, it works fine, 90% of the time. The other 10% it will create the blank space other have mentioned. At which point, I give it a few seconds, try it again and it works. I don't believe it is Windows issue, since I have an older version of Evernote that I have installed and tried, which worked fine. However, since Evernote's latest security updates, the older version of Evernote does not work anymore, so I was "forced" to use the latest version. Given my line of work and the amount of documentation I do, this is a PITA. I reported it to Evernote with extensive detail on how to reproduce, but I got the canned answer of " we will pass it on to our developers, please see if the issue is fixed in the next update". I have reported this probably 4 times after the latest set of releases, without any fix.

NB: pasting an image which has no transparent image is no problem. It's only when there's even the slightest transparency, like if you slightly widen the background or add another image which exceed the original margins and the Snagit background resizes itself.

I'm about 90% sure this is something that came after a new Evernote version, although I couldn't tell you for sure which one (about 2-3 updates ago it seems to me. (EN updates much more frequently than Snagit, too, so that adds to my relative certainty that this is where the change happened, not on the Snagit end.)

This worked for me. Thank you very much. Instinctively I had looked at the Capture Window settings, never thought to look at the editor settings, given that my capture settings sent the image capture to the clipboard, I never actually open the editor, I just paste (CTRL-V) into evernote and other places. However, given that this is working with the recommended fix, it appears that the editor settings also control the screen capture processing. Thanks again.

I'd much prefer to see the actual bug get fixed by Evernote, of course. There used to be no issue pasting a transparency into Evernote, at least from Snagit which is a hugely popular software in the software design/development community.

Basically, ENML is quite close to HTML, so the embedded browser is the display engine for Evernote notes. I don't know the details, but I'd also guess that CEF is also used to mediate interaction with notes while editing.

Snagit is one screen-capture solution in use at Illinois State University. The below directions have been tested using the latest version of Snagit with Windows 11 Enterprise. If you are using a different version of either Snagit or Windows, you may need to contact Snagit (TechSmith) support for assistance.

SnagIt does need to be opened before pressing Print Screen to use it, and you may need to restart SnagIt after applying these settings for it to take effect. If you would like Snagit to run on startup follow the steps below:

When you upload software to oldversion.com you get rewarded by points. For every field that is filled out correctly, points will berewarded, some fields are optional but the more you provide the more you will get rewarded!

I very frequently use Snagit and Evernote to create IT documentation. It seems since upgrading to v10.x, I'm no longer able to copy-paste screen grabs from Snagit into Evernote notes.. This works fine in other apps (Word/Powerpoint/Paint) but no longer works in Evernote. I've been stuck using Paint as an intermediary (E.g. I copy a screen grab from Snagit, paste into Paint then re-copy it into Evernote). I can't figure out what changed.

Hi. It's a fairly safe guess that your issue is something to do with the format in which Windows is pasting screen grabs into Evernote, which is apparently not to v10's taste. Paint presumably renders the image as PNG or JPG content which Evernote 10 can handle.

Above are my current versions. I've been using Snagit for Windows and Evernote for years. With Evernote 10.x, the original Snagit preset no longer works, but I'll show you a workaround that fixes this. Also, there are two ways to copy/paste from Snagit to Evernote, and I'm not sure which one you are talking about.

When in the Snagit Editor, don't forget to click the "Copy All" icon in upper right to 'copy entire canvas to the clipboard'. Unfortunately, a Snagit capture doesn't seem to automatically put it in the clipboard.

Screenrec is a powerful alternative to Snagit for Windows (Lastest Windows 10, 8, 7 are supported), Linux and Mac. It is both screenshot capture tool and screen recording software. Powered by StreamingVideoProvider, Screenrec uses a sophisticated algorithm to upload your recording to the cloud in real time. So, as soon as you finish recording, you instantly get a shareable link.

The interface is mind-blowingly simple. Capturing screencasts or screenshots is as easy as opening the app, selecting your capture area, and pressing a button. It comes with a very simple but yet powerful screenshot annotation tool and lets you add comments, draw rectangles and arrows or add text.

TuneFab Screen Recorder is also a great Snagit alternative that is perfectly compatible with Windows and Mac systems. It provides 4 different modes to capture any screen activity easily, including the video recorder, audio recorder, webcam recorder, and screen capture function. You can flexibly record any type of content revealed on the desktop screens. It supports common video/audio formats such as MP4, MOV, AVI, GIF, MP3, M4A, AAC, and more.
