I’ve been meaning to post something for a while now, but have been
pretty busy, which is a good thing. I’ll tell you a little bit about
that in a sec, but first want to express my thoughts about the class
and what a change it has brought to my way of thinking about things.
When I get into a discussion about sustainability, I start sounding
like a junior Fred. I even sometimes catch myself noticing burnt out
lights when I walk into a building. I have to thank you, Fred, for
getting me to view things in a totally different way. It must be a
wonderful experience for an instructor to watch your students
completely transform their way of thinking before your very eyes in
such a short period of time. Even though I discovered that I have
actually been into a sustainable lifestyle for most my life; (I’m
cheap and can’t throw anything away); the amount of knowledge that I
absorbed during the course was incredible.
Only a couple of weeks after finishing our last class I got a call
from the president of the new architectural and planning firm I am
involved with. We needed to get together on a proposal for a project
down in the Yucatan Peninsula. To make a long story short, I just got
back last week from a week long consultation in Cancun. And we got the
job partially because of my “expertise” in sustainable development
since the client is intending on gaining a LEED Certification for the
project.
I would love to fill you all in on some more details when we see each
other next. I am not sure if I’ll be able to make Green Drinks, but
will definitely see you at our meeting on the 9th at the Arden
Library. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best wishes,
Mike Peterson
