I am thinking about adding a SSD to my Desktop Pavilion P6-2378 and wanted to check the UEFI-BIOS and I can not seem to be able to access it. I have read a little on this board and followed several instructions that was given. I tried with constantly pressing F10 from restart and from a complete shut down. I can't seem to find any info about this in my computer help either. Thank you.

On my HP 8200 Elite CMT Business PC with a UEFI BIOS, I need to tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get a menu of options. I cannot just hit F10 or F9 (boot options) like the good old days.

I've tried that and it did not work for me. I have a new graphics card in and it doesn't seem to fire up the monitor right away. I've been messing with this for too long today and I have to walk away for a while:smileysad: Thank you, Paul...I've been reading that many have problems with this and there are so many different solutions...it's kinda' crazy.

i tried this,my computer power switch turns amber and beeps continuously, held power button to turn off, then turned back on and it beeps again,i had to pull the power cord after switching off, then when i turned it on it booted to windows,i have a p6-2307a with updated graphics card and power supply to match card,

I have had the same problem with adding an upgraded Video Card to my p6 2378 with Windows 8. The solution for me was I had to remove the upgraded card, the go through the previous recommended steps to enter the bios. When you get to the bois you have to disable 'Secure Boot' and enable 'Legacy Boot'. Then turn off and reinstall the video card. It has worked perfectly after that.

im trying to install a new graphics card on my new hp envy 700. i was told i need to get in the bios and change the settings. so i followed these steps and the thing is. when i get to the last restart sceen and click restart i get a black screen and i get nothing. so therefor i cant get into the settings i need to get in to. any solutions?

On your BIOS is X" drive planted with Hacker, have copy of FAKE windows 11 Pro in my case and nbody can get rid of this drive. It is impossible regarding set of your BIOS. Your BIOS id absolutely Hackers and Hacker is OWNER of your computer. Tou can do nothing. Regedit is very changed in about 80 cases, Services totaly screwed and uou can not disable or enable almost any services. Boot drive X: is about 3MB volume.

Go through the various UEFI/BIOS Setup tabs to report back the settings for UEFI (should be enabled), CSM or Legacy BIOS (should be disabled unless trying to boot a Legacy Windows install on the PC), Secure Boot (should be enabled) and Boot Priority order (Windows Boot Manager should remain first to boot at all times).

Hi Aaron, I have the same model and i unfortunately occurred on the same problem/virus, how u solved the issue? I'm still not sure if it's in the bios after I formatted and reinstalled win downloaded from another device, but to be 100% sure I would like to know how to have a check on the bios.
Thanks!

Well this might sound silly. I put dual boot (original windows and Bazzite) on my Legion go with 2TB SSD. Then I went in to update the machine in Legion Space on windows. It said to update bios it needed a reboot. Then it rebooted and showed me the warning for not to power off. It also said there will be 2 min of black screen after the update. I waited for the update to finish, but nothing happened after 2 min. Complete black screen.

Same thing happened to me last night. Updated BIOS through Legion Space and it went to black screen. it took me a couple hours but here's how I did it. I downloaded a different BIOS from March, then hooked the Go up via external display. Navigated the BIOS menu with FPS mode and controllers connected. It's a pain but I was able to get into BIOS and enable the BIOS Flashback. Then I pushed the new BIOS file through and it worked. Hardest part was getting the BIOS menu to work with FPS mode. I tried external mouse/keyboard with no success. FPS mode was the only way.

I would always let it sit longer. It may say 1-2 minutes but it could take 5-10 or 30. I always give myself at least 30 minutes before I think about forcing it off. You could try rolling back the bios if you have it enabled and reinstall.

2. Plugged in the external monitor, Flash the most recent Bios downloaded from Lenovo. Unplug Monitor. Reboot. Came back after lunch. The machine fell asleep. Can not see anything on the screen. Power off by long press the button. Then reboot. Still black screen.

3. Plugged in the external monitor. Go to Legion Space changed the thermal profile from custom(purple power button color) to performance(red power button color). Unplug monitor. Power on and see Legion logo on the screen!

I've read that elsewhere too, that leaving it sit for long enough fixes it. What I would suggest is NOT updating through Legion Space. I haven't had any luck updating the AMD drivers with it and when trying to update the BIOS it failed to black screen. I let it sit plenty long enough during the update...at least 20 minutes without touching it. Still failed. I think Legion Space needs some work.

Some times as Adam B already wrote before the black screen can take even longer then 20 Minutes. I would leave it on performance or 30 Watt custom TDP for the updates too, as I experienced it to be faster and didn't have any problems with it. Also I would leave it plugged in for the whole procedure.

If I select "USB" i boot into the legacy mode for the installer just fine and everything works. But i'm following the UEFI guide and since I want to dual boot with windows8, if I understood the guide correctly, i Must install in UEFI mode.
