I sent a story to Amelia recently, because I liked what I had
seen of them. I got back a rejection scribbled on a flier
for a variety of services which the publishers of Amelia apparently
offer, including various contests, with entry fees of around $2 to $5,
apparently depending on the size of the pot.

It also said: "LET US PUBLISH YOUR WORK. When you decide to publish your
poetr collection, short story collection or novel, you deserve a high
quality product. Assuming you are familiar with the quality of our
magazines and books (or you may order samples below), you know we offer
a quality presentation. We would be happy to consider publishing your
book under our subsidy imprint, PARVENU PRESS.

"Simply send us your manuscript with an SASE and a non-refundable
reading/quotation fee of $50 (will be credited to the cost of
publication when we publish your book). Make your checks payable to
AMELIA."

Has anyone else come across this?
