FYI, guys:

Mind's Eye has its first novel on-line now, and it's my "Unto the Last
Generation," post eco-catastrophe with the hero's sidekick a talking
headstone. Take a peek (for free) at http://tale.com/

Congratulations! I'm jealous as all hell, of course, because
mine's being looked at over there and I wanted to be their first
novel. Whine, whine. I'll go look at it soon. Again, my heartiest
congratulations.

What can I say, Katrina? "There, there," and (=> (that's a hug with
a backpat).

But seriously, if this works, there's room for all of us. Whether it
works is still an open question. There's a nice review at Tomorrowsf
now, but the first couple of days show 21 people looking but no one
buying.

It _ought_ to work, dammit! For now, I'm the one with the neck stuck
out the window, the toe in the ice water, and the fanny exposed to the
breeze. If I survive, you can have a little more confidence in the
procedure.

Don't get discouraged. Alexandria's been offering a novel by
Ardath Mayhar, and we've sold multiple copies.

<browse browse>

There isn't much information *about* the work on the site.
By the copyright date, do I assume it's a heretofore unpublished
novel?

Brand new, Dave. Thanks to the ineffable wisdom of all the paper
publishers who didn't want it. (Should I admit that?)

You get a bit more if you click the title--at least a quote from
Canwell's review in the current Tomorrowsf.

Thanks! Luckily, I'm trying to find out whether or not publishing
my first novel through Mind's Eye (fingers still crossed) can
improve the marketability of the second novel (not a sequel) with
the really big markets. Therefor I wouldn't be too freaked out if
it didn't really sell much at Mind's Eye. I also feel that
e-zines must be the up-and-coming main format, and Mr. Jenks is
one of the few who look like they're getting off to a really good
start. In other words, it looks like on-line publishing will
boom, and Mr. Jenks and a few others will go far, while a lot of
other people will sink without a trace. Getting in on the ground
level right now is probably a very good idea.
