Well, I gave up on the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association
reservations service. I have secured alternate arrangements for the
convention, and will be staying at a hotel a few blocks from everything
else. What a mess. They never got my fax, they have no record of my multiple
phone calls enquiring about my reservations, so I said to heck with them.
When I called today, the only thing they could offer me for all the days I
plan to be there was $185/night! Yikes. Well, Baltimore has just dropped off
my list of places to go for a convention!

Gee, I just called them today on their 800 number line, and a
courteous answerer took my requirements (for 3 nights, Thu-Sun) and
told me there were rooms for that stretch available in the Tremont
Plaza, $115/night. A little further away (a four block walk won't
kill me) but then I waited an awful long time to make up my mind about
going to Worldcon. The only other one with all three nights was the
Harbor Court (a ritzy place right on the harbor, hence the higher
price, probably the one they quoted you. Of course, I was looking for
a single, no smoking. Your requirements may have been different.

a sunday morning at 11:00 AM car break in in 1991.
