So, the time is fast approaching. From my notes:

In Cabin 4, JT, Christine, Greg, Beth.
In Cabin 2, WJaKe, JP, Les, Tom, & Diane, with a bed open/available.

If Cecil is attending he is RVing or camping.

If Lisa & mom and the Sparks family are still attending, they are
tenting.

Karen Cottrell & Eli are maybes.

BC is a ?, as he will be at SigOth's, if he is able to come.

I will be attending the WorldCon. Christine is not. I am staying at
my house for the WorldCon, although how late(early?) I return to it is
in question. ;)

Gathering dates are 7/30-8/2 (checkout 8/3)
WorldCon runs 8/5-8/9

As of right now, I have no "plans" for activities, although Saturday
8/1 would probably be the best day for any planned group activity.

Beatrice (if you are reading--and can some kind soul send me her
current email address if she doesn't respond right away; I seem to
have misplaced it), would you want to be a part of any kind of
workout/demo, and would your father be interested in a bunch of
Heinleiners listening raptly to anything he would care to tell us
about? I'm fairly sure JP would be a willing practice partner, and I
would be glad to help. I think Fader will probably sit out this year.
;)

Touristy Planned Activities:
Christine & I are always willing to go to the Aquarium. Since I know
Diane likes art, y'all might consider the BMA. A night at Fells Point
(artsy bar& restaurant area) after an afternoon at the Inner Harbor is
always do-able & tailored to individual budgets. But pretty much
we're open to what you all would like to do. I figure one day of
"activity stuff" is good to break up all the schmoozing....

Feedback/questions now welcome....

Lest he be offended, add Ed as an attendee who's hoteling it. I don't
know if he decided on York or Timonium, though. <G>

JT: I'm not that easily offended <bwg>, ` though it is nice to be
included with the grownups ;-) .
Timonium sounds like the best choice.

There are so many clouds obscuring my immediate future, that August
seems impossibly far away. Thanks for reminding us to get serious
about making reservations.

BTW: have we heard from Doc? (or a few others who haven't posted
in a while, for that matter.)

Ed, no, and I've been really bad about keeping current email
addresses. John Paul was kind enough to forward my initial post in
this thread to Beatrice, but there are others that have a shot at
coming that we haven't seen here in a while. Foremost in my mind is
Karen Cottrell, but she just might be lurking....

Everyone is welcome, BTW. For those of you that might have forgotten
some of the details, we've got some cabins reserved at Morris Meadows
campground north of Baltimore, MD, just prior to the 1998 WorldCon.
No set plans about activities, and right now we've only got 9
confirmed, with a few more probably coming. There's one definite space
available in a cabin, and if you want to tent or RV on your own there
would probably be a slot there for you.

Right now, Cabin costs are looking at $19 per night per person.
Slightly cheaper if we fill the second cabin. Plus, we have to buy
food or just assign meals out....

A couple of weeks ago I sent Doc a short email asking how he was.
I used the last email address he had posted here from,
<cfco...@stlnet.com>. He has not replied, nor did I receive
a bounce or other error message.

I hope he's alright. And it would be nice if he could
come to the Gathering again this year.

Close and convenient as it is, it looks like I will have to give this
gathering a miss, as I've just started a new job and have only limited
leave avaiable, which I will be using to go to Worldcon.

Sorry I won't be there guys, you've mafde it sound real attractive.

So tell me, is there water up there? Enough to float a boat? Or could we
head down to Baltimore for a sail on the bay? Any takers?

WJaKe-

If I make the Gathering, I would definitely be interested in a sail,
wherever it might be obtained.

No, I haven't been lurking lately. I don't think I've looked at this news
group since the middle of April. I had a bunch of "must be done yesterday"
type stuff to do, and I drifted out of the habit of newsgroup reading.

I was checking my calendar for something Friday, saw the marking for the
Gathering and was suddenly reminded. I need to do some checking, on things
like airplane tickets (should have done this ages ago!) and financing; to
see if I can attend this years Gathering.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Karen
