STAND UP FOR LIFE: CFC USA’S RESPONSE TO THE  CALL FOR PRAYER OF THE US CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS (USCCB)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in our dear CFC Community:

We praise GOD for LIFE!

As a Catholic Community, we, members of Couples for Christ, honor and respect LIFE, knowing fully well that our loving GOD is the Author of LIFE.

For the spirit of God made me, the breath of the Almighty keeps me alive.”

(Job 33: 4. New American Bible, Revised Edition)

“On you I have depended since birth; from my mother’s womb you are my strength“

               (Psalms 71:6, NABRE)

This week is the 3rd week of the “Call to Prayer” Novena, and here are the Novena Prayer and the Learning for this week. Remember, we will all pray the Novena Prayer this coming Friday, August 17th, and make good our offer of sacrifice (fasting and abstinence). For those who are reading about the “Call to Prayer” only now, CFC USA is supporting the USCCB’s “CALL TO PRAYER” Novena for the Supreme Court and for an end to abortion-on-demand here in the US and around the world.  It is a 9-week Novena that started on August 3rd and ends on September 28th.  "Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being." ("Donum vitae," 5)

PRAYER FOR AUGUST 16TH:

“May a change in the U.S. Supreme Court move our nation closer to the day when every human being is protected in law and welcomed in life.”

Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be...

LEARN:

“Abortion advocates speak as if abortion is health care, a procedure that is morally and emotionally equivalent to surgically removing one's tonsils or appendix. It is often conveyed as so morally neutral that only a few religious outliers find it objectionable. Yet in reality, the vast majority, over 85%, of OB/GYNs, coming from many faiths or no faith refuse to be associated with or perform an abortion. In addition, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 86% of hospitals were not involved in abortion. Finally, even Roe acknowledges that abortion is unlike other procedures performed by a health professional and that unborn children deserve some protection. Abortion is not health care and we do a disservice to women and health care providers to pretend it is.”

Also, here is a link to an insightful article written by Fr. Shenan J. Boquet which sheds more light about the abortion issue and why every faithful should pray for the Supreme Court: https://www.hli.org/2018/08/pray-supreme-court/

Praying for everyone’s faithful support and full cooperation.

In the Love of Jesus and Mary,
