Helping mamas run for office w/ Vote Mama?

Dear badass feminist friends,

 

As I share sometimes in my advocacy work, my own badass mama had to halt her education early because she couldn't afford childcare when my sister and I were babies. 

She tells a story of listening to the professor through a crack in the door to her classroom, holding my infant sister in her arms, and I have never been able to shake that image from my mind. 

I grew up hearing this story, and being told to prioritize education and financial stability. But it shouldn't have to be this hard.

Childcare is a barrier for too many badass mamas across this country--especially ones running for office for the first time. That's why I am an advocate with Vote Mama, the first PAC in the country dedicated to increasing the political power of Democratic moms by disrupting the systems that hold women back through direct financial support, mentorship, and endorsements.

Vote Mama was formed in 2019 by Liuba Grechen Shirley, who made history as the first woman congressional candidate to ever successfully petition the FEC to use her campaign funds for childcare. Since its launch, Vote Mama has helped over 250 Democratic moms run for office across the country from School Board to U.S. Senate. 

 

I can't think of a better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to help elect progressive moms all over the country. I'm hoping to help the organization raise $10,000 this month. That amount represents the approximate cost of childcare for 3 badass mama candidates during this GOTV season.
