A lot of the songs we use in our worship are based on passages from Scripture, and it’s fun and interesting to discover them.

“It is for freedom [he] set us free.” –Galatians 5:1
Today’s 1st reading is from Paul’s letter to the Galatians, wherein he encourages those who still want to restrict themselves to the slavery of the old rules that Jesus wanted them to free of those laws, and he won that freedom for them through his life and his death. “In Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision [symbol of the old law] counts for anything, but only faith working through love.” (Gal. 5:6)

This verse makes part of the pre-chorus for the song “Freedom” written by Darrel Evans.
It is for freedom He's set us free
It is for freedom He's set us free
I'm free! (I'm free! I'm free!)
