I'll be starting work at UCSF on August 1. I'm interested in knowing what the 18xx gaming options are for someone living in the city (within bicycling distance of Parnassus) without a car.

Not too much has been going on in the city itself of late, I've fallen off the radar almost entirely, but looking to start getting back into it more.  Not sure about the south bay.  Pretty much everything in the city is pretty bikeable from the Parnassus area.

East Bay is going strong I hear, with Jim Black and such, but I'm uninvited from there I guess (for having different preferences of 18xx games from Jim and winning too much with them was the email he sent me), but I know a few new players who have also told me they're not allowed to play with the group until they play more games so I guess maybe they're just set in their ways mostly.  If you are allowed to play with them, getting to the East Bay location would mean bicycling to a BART stop (they let bikes on) and then it's like a block or so from there.

Joe and Jenny are going strong with gaming in general at their place in the Richmond district, they've been doing the odd 18xx games I think.  When Joe, Jenny, Rob, and I were all in the same house, we played 18xx fairly frequently and did open sessions once every month or two.

Rob and I are over in the Mission near Bernal Heights still, but we've both been focused on a lot of other things lately.  I'm thinking about moving in the next few months (before August), maybe in the city, possibly out by Lake Merritt in Oakland.  If/once I do so, I'll be putting more effort into gaming at various locations and organizing more game days at my place.  The city's nightlife is oft-packed, but it would be great to try for a game night somewhere like Pi Bar on 25th St which has good pizza, great beer, and usually open tables on a weeknight.

I've not been able to play with Aliza, JC, and Daniel in the past year or two, mostly as I just haven't been gaming much at all for the past two years and what little I have has been squarely in the city boundaries.

I'm otherwise definitely very interested in getting an 18xx group together for at least once a month game days in the fall.

I live in San Mateo but work by the Montgomery Bart station in SF. Some members of my group also work in the Financial District in SF. I'd be interested in starting a regular/semi-regular Wednesday night 18xx group going in one of our offices if we can get some interest.

I'm...about an hour's drive from SF. We usually play at my house in
Los Gatos or at Daniels in Lafayette. Lafayette can be reached by
Bart, but not so much Los Gatos. Maybe transport can be
arranged. (Daniel rides his bike down here from Lafayette
and then sleeps over in a sleeping bag) But...things may be different
again by the time you get here.

Eric:

We should get together for 1820 sometime.

I'd love to play a game, and can host. I have only played 2 full games of 1830, and one incomplete game of 1854.

Feel free to contact me directly, if you'd like to get something together! I live by the Civic Center BART, and work in Soma.

Toby, Phillip, you’re both near SOMA/Civiv Center. Want to try that Wednesday evening game idea? I am available December 20. Can Toby still host? Anyone else interested?

Weeknights are a bit tough. But perhaps Friday night? I might be able to do the 8th.

Did you ever get in touch with Joe/Eric and their Meetup group?  They used to play a fair bit of 18xx.

I have the last week of December off and a shiny new copy of 18USA that needs playing...

Hi!

We have a really great room (http://philihp.s3.amazonaws.com/IMG_3605.jpg) that I'd love to host y'all at. It's in the Airbnb office, so we would probably want to do it on a Saturday/Sunday. This weekend or next weekend works for me.

Watching this list... I'm in the North Bay, San Rafael, and am interested in playing 18xx, but is really not likely with my group. I have someone further north I might play the first couple of games with, but am willing to travel to the city for games on occasion.

We play in Lafayette now and then (irregularly, once every month or
two). More often we play down here in Los Gatos: about one gamesday or
evening+day a month, plus game-weekends (Friday (evening), Saturday,
Sunday) about every ~3 months or so. Give me a shout if that might
work for you.

AIR Jim Black's group plays at Endgame in Oakland on a regular schedule
(but I don't know what it is).
