Meet the Candidate: Bilal Mahmood for Assembly - AD-17

Urban Environmentalists, a chapter of YIMBY Action, is hosting a meet and greet with Bilal Mahmood, a candidate for Assembly District 17. We will be assessing candidates in this race for an endorsement in the near future, and this meeting represents a great opportunity to meet Bilal, learn more about his housing platform, and ask him questions. At this point, Bilal is the only candidate in the race with a housing platform.

The child of immigrants, Bilal’s background as a neuroscientist, experience working in government and business, and innovative and collaborative approach to addressing economic inequality have improved people’s lives locally and globally. From creating a microlending non-profit to help people lift themselves out of poverty; serving as a Policy Analyst in the Obama administration; to helping restaurant workers in San Francisco offset lost wages during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bilal is a problem solver with a proven track record of creating meaningful change.
