gentlemen,

i found your group by googling 'santa fe audiophile.' i'm a record
collector & audio enthusiast spending a couple of years in santa fe.
the shure VN5xMR stylus on my V15Vx is fading & needs to be replaced.
i'm contemplating the jico replacement stylus or possibly splurging
for a new cartridge. to install a new cartridge or stylus &
appropriately adjust the turntable settings i prefer to bring my
turntable to an expert, but that doesn't appear to be an option in
santa fe. can anyone recommend a turntable pro here? my thorens
TD520 is not that easy or cool to schlep around so the more local the
better. all input appreciated!

I believe that Constellation Home Electronics (983-9988) recently recruited a veteran turntable expert who might be able to help you.

Also, last year the tech guy at Hudson’s Audio in Albuquerque (505-293-3420) did an excellent job installing an upgrade motor and tuning up my Rega Planar 3 / Ortofon Kontrapunkt A combo.

I use to have your Shure cartridge and loved it. Gave it to a good friend up in Wyoming who’s still using it.

Good luck!

Hal

gentlemen,

michael ehlers here, very occasional participant in sfaudio threads.

i do eremite records, a specialty jazz record label rather quietly based in santa fe since about 2010. for more info about the label, please see eremite.com

would anyone in the group with a reasonable audiophile turntable set-up kindly consider giving me access to their system for an hour or so to help me evaluate a test pressing for a new project? at the moment i’m using a vintage system that’s a little quirky, it would be very beneficial to hear the test on a system that is closer to ‘reference-grade.' constellation audio  will let me use their clear audio / macintosh set-up this coming saturday, but i’m on a tighter deadline than saturday.

i’ll gladly hand-over eremite product as a show of appreciation, i’m also a collector & dealer specializing in jazz & more.

thanks & have a good one,

michael
