Kyle F. Hence 1964 - 2025
Pioneering 9/11 Truth Filmmaker and Activist
Kyle Hence was a prominent filmmaker and activist for the 9/11 Truth Movement, who co-founded "9/11 CitizensWatch" in 2002 (along with John Judge), an organization that played a key role in advocating for the establishment of the 9/11 Commission.
Kyle attended nearly all of the 9/11 Commission's public hearings, closely monitored its proceedings, and critiqued its final report. He was recognized for building bridges between 9/11 victims' family members (including groups like the Family Steering Committee), and other truth-seeking efforts.
Most notably, he was the Executive Producer and co-writer of the highly influential and masterful 2006 documentary 9/11: Press for Truth, which focuses on the perspectives of victims' families and unanswered questions surrounding the attacks. It features interviews with the "Jersey Girls" (widows of 9/11 victims), and it draws heavily from Paul Thompson's Complete 9/11 Timeline.
Kyle also contributed to other films, including "Improbable Collapse: The Demolition of Our Republic (2006)," (written and directed by Michael Berger, webmaster of 911truth.org).
Kyle's activism began almost immediately after September 11, 2001, and he has appeared on platforms like C-SPAN to question Commission members about omissions in the official report.
As Executive Producer, he was an in-studio guest for the showing of "9/11: Press for Truth" at Colorado Public Television (then called KBDI), one of Colorado's PBS stations, along with Director Ray Nowosielski, and Bob McIlvaine, father of Bobby McIlvaine who was killed on 9/11 in the North Tower.
Besides 9/11 Truth filmmaking and activism, Kyle had a background in photography and was a professional yacht captain.
More recently, Kyle married and devoted his attention to his wife Hellen and their young son Kainoah (Kai) at their home in Costa Rica. His activism focus shifted toward regenerative culture, systems thinking, and existential issues like AI and intergenerational trauma.
Kyle Hence is survived by his wife, Hellen, his son Kainoah, his brother, Maxson Hence, and extended family and friends.
His brother, Maxson, has organized a GoFundMe with this message:
Kyle, my brother, faced heart-related health issues for many years. These challenges made it difficult for him to work consistently and be the primary provider for his family. Despite his best efforts, his health conditions ultimately took his life, leaving his wife Hellen and their son Kainoah to navigate life without him. Our family has always been close, and losing Kyle has deeply affected all of us. We feel a responsibility to step in and support Hellen and Kainoah, not only because they are our kin, but because we want to see them thrive and heal from the pain and struggles they have endured for so long.
Hellen and Kainoah now face many challenges, from covering basic living expenses to ensuring Kainoah’s education and maintaining their home. The funds raised will go directly toward helping them with healthy food, advancing the education of both Hellen and Kai, healthcare, upkeep on their home, and basic transportation. By providing this support, we hope to ease their burden and give them the stability they need to move forward. Our goal is to help them avoid further hardship and to honor Kyle’s memory by caring for the family he loved so much.
I believe it’s important for extended family and close friends to rally around a good cause. In this case, understanding what Kyle and his family have gone through and what’s at stake for their future is an opportunity to be part of Kyle’s life and legacy. Your support will help fulfill what Kyle wanted for his family, creating a spiritual and lasting connection that will have a long-term impact. Thank you for considering a contribution to help Hellen and Kainoah during this time.
We in the 9/11 Truth Movement ride on Kyle's shoulders more than many of us realize, so we are honored to send this tribute acknowledging our truth-seeking brother.
