I live in Nob Hill and learnt about SF2G from a Google friend. He says that the Bayway trail passes through the Meta campus where I work so would like to try that. I would love to join for a FFFF as the route seems intimidating a bajillion turns (The elevation or the mileage doesn't seem as concerning as the number of turns or navigating)

1. When does the next FFFF happen?
2. What is the most ergonomic way to navigate in case I want to try this out on a non FFFF day? Do I export the GPX or TCX of the route from Strava (from the website) and load it on to my apple watch (workoutdoors app is pretty good) and phone?

Hi Rohit,

A couple of follow up questions to get the thread moving....

1. The Bayway route goes through two separate Meta sites, so can you be a little more specific about your ride goals

2. FFFF is a concept that has, unfortunately, slightly died out given how few people go in on Fridays.  So one thing you can do is self-identify your ride speed - S1 is fast, S2 is sprightly but conversational, and Z3 is chill.  Then you might be able to join a ride on any day that matches your pace / capability.  (see sf2g.com for more info)

Hope that helps!  See you out there.

Cheers,
Andy

That was an interesting typo.  "S3 is chill."  (not Z3!)

I attempted my first SF2G run a couple of weeks ago (solo, weird time, arriving MTV noon for lunch with a friend, otherwise I would have called it out on here) and lived to tell the tale!

Good luck with the navigation - I doubled back from a few missed turns even with a route loaded on the bike computer but nothing more than a few hundred meters :)

Assuming you're reasonably fit and have a halfway decent bike, I would recommend joining any BEX ride S2.3 - S3 that gets called out. If you actually get dropped, navigate to the next convenient Caltrain. And actually the trickiest part is in South City, so you'll probably hang on for that. Once you get through that, following directions is more doable.

I need to go to the Mpk campus some time soon for a visit and could escort too.

1. Going to the classic campus.i checked the bayway route and it directly passed through there. This is the one in Menlo Park
2. My ride goals are to get used to navigating unfamiliar routes and to possibly make more cyclist friends in SF and to get more fit ofc. Trying to up my weekly mileage so I don’t gas out on my MTB trips on the weekend

Classic MPK is a solid but almost entirely flat 2 hour ride from sf so you can work up to that pretty easily.

Hi Rohit,

Do you want to try to do this tomorrow (friday)? I can call a ride - maybe leave at 7am - I can at least go down to the water stop...let me know.

Mark
