Hey, all! We have a very, very, very old tilt-up garage door that we've been told might be nearly impossible to replace with a newer roll-up/segmented door. The repair guy who told me that said HE didn't know how to fit the mechanism in the narrow space avail, but said it might be worth asking around.
I have a vague memory of someone in the last couple years telling me that they'd faced a similar problem and found an installer who'd solved it. Thing is, I can't remember who...if this rings a bell (or if you know of a repair guy who works on such old doors--ours retired), please let me know!
(We're concerned that the massive extension springs are quite old, and we'd like to, at the very least replace *them*, if we can find someone comfortable with working w/ antique mechanisms!)
Thanks! And I miss riding w/ y'all—the downside of permanently remote work!
Christine
