I've never liked the stretch of University Ave between Bayfront Expressway and Purdue was thinking about trying a variation. Has anyone ever tried Willow Road -> Newbridge St -> Bay Road and have a reason to avoid it?

Yeah when I'm riding alone I'll often continue straight on Bayfront
Expy instead of getting on the Sun/Facebook sprint, then right at
Chrysler, left at Jefferson, through the Intuit/PGP parking lot on to
Chilco, left on Newbridge, across Willow and then right on Saratoga,
which turns into Bayshore and takes you across University and then
past IKEA and eventually you end up at Embarcadero where the regular
bayway route gets on to the super sprint.

It avoids some of the sketchier areas of EPA and is a bit shorter.
Also there are less turns and stops and stuff so I think you can go a
bit faster. I find this "shortcut" consistently saves me 5 minutes off
the regular route.

Anyway, worth a shot if you don't like the EPA section of University.
