The old center bike lanes, which apparently wrecked commerce on Valencia compared to thriving nearby Van Ness Boulevard, are out and the new "parking protected" bike lanes are going back in.  They were partially complete, to the south, last night while further north, they are still "penciled in".

They take sharp deviations around parklets.

They are in fact quite good.... for parking.  This car was flashing its emergency lights as I ran past last night.

Here is an example of how the bike lanes navigate parklets.

Hopefully, once the lanes are officially done, cars won't park in them. Parking protected lanes are standard best practice and finally Valencia is getting them.
I rode them last week (the finished part at least) and they're nice and wide and allowed me to ride as fast as I wanted, like the old center lanes.

When will San Francisco get a bike lane bounty program like NYC was talking about?
