LOCAL NUTRITION WORK...

The Food Bank has received hundreds of egg donations to give out to families in need, but they don't have enough egg cartons to put them in.

We have eggs.  We NEED cartons!

Help others in need by donating your gently used egg cartons downtown at the Saranac Building lobby by September 30th (collection bin will be on site) at 25 West Main St. or contact Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank at (509) 927-1153 to find out how you can get involved.

If you're going to a movie at the Magic Lantern or a meal at Isabella's, don't forget to bring an egg carton donation.

The need is immediate — thank you for your support!
Main Market Co-op is proud to partner on this request for a healthier & more resilient Inland NW, one bite at a time.  Member owned.  Locally driven. www.mainmarket.coop <http://www.mainmarket.coop/>

Just in from our friends at Project H.O.P.E.
West Central Market Place (with Riverfront Farm and Vinegar Flats Garden) made a quick and late decision to continure BUT we will operate
every Saturday through Oct 17th from 10-11:30 at 1414 W. Broadway.

Righteous Porkchop by Nicolette Hahn Niman

The author exposes some realities of the modern day meat, poultry and dairy industries.  Not all doom and gloom, the book also highlights traditional farmers and ranchers doing things.  Find out how a single, vegetarian lawyer ended up a married meat-producer at the eco- friendly Niman Ranch.  -- Karen Berube

Farm City by Novella Carpenter

A first-time non-fiction novel that takes you on the journey of raising your own food in the city, in this case the ghetto of Oakland.  From her squat garden to her colorful neighbors, hard to believe it's not fiction.  Carpenter grew up in this area and has the candid humor that proves it.  Book your calendar for her Oct.20th reading @ Auntie's!  -- Jennifer M. Hall

In Late Winter We Ate Pears by Deirdre Heekin & Caleb Barber

This is packed with simple and fresh Italian recipes organized by season and accompanied by charming memories of the couple's travels through Italy.  This delightful melding of armchair travel meets cookbook will bring a smile to the food lover's face and a tear to the romantic's eye. --  Kristi Fountain

Salmon Forest by David Suzuki and Sarah Ellis

This children’s book is a great story about the life cycle of a salmon.  It stresses systems thinking and the interconnectedness of all things and includes a recipe and glossary at the end. --  Stacey Selcho
