June 18 Meeting Minutes

Here are the minutes of yesterday's meeting.  

Things to be excited about:  "Hackathon" this Saturday to prepare for SF Pride action.  

Attendees: Carrie, Kai, Yasen, Deb

I)  Pride action

• Brainstormed ideas:
  • Dressing up as Lesters
  • Billionaires for plutocracy
  • Signs / visuals re how much time reps spend raising money
  • Dress up as reps in shackles, chained telephone / other fundraising symbol / "NRA"
• Handouts / bills directing people to FB group or RS website
• Track i'net traffic, new FB members to measure impact
• Carrie to post prep session event
• Invite campus groups
• June 22 prep session to be held in Rincon Center (inside or outside) in late morning

II) FB group

• Think of ground rules
• Possible "hackathon" to generate content
• Kai is willing to be admin

III) Group concerns

• Leadership vacuum right now while RS evaluates strategy
• Small actions, attainable, are appropriate at this point
• Deb explained RS's role in the larger anti-corruption movement

Hi folks,

It's 10:15 and I'm the only one here for the pride prep event.

With no positive RSVPs or emails, I'm going to go ahead and call off the prep event. I assume that means we won't march in the parade either, but if others are motivated to try again let me know.

I think the lesson here is that we need to plan farther ahead. I apologize for setting up the event so late- that was a miscommunication between Deb and me. Also, I think next time we might have better success if we get attendance commitments from people at the meeting as well.

So... It was a nice idea but not meant to be this time!
