San Francisco Rootstrikers Meeting  5/21/13

In attendance: Carrie, Bonk, Yasen, Ben, Luke, and Deb

Bizz Viz Action on May 19th: Luke:  got three videos, and then used the app to look at beer manufactures and who they contribute to.  Would like the petitions for the DISCLOSE act next time.

CA Disclose:  SB 52 passed the Senate Elections Committee and the Appropriations Committee.  The next hurdle will be the floor vote on the Senate.  CA Clean is asking people to help with phone banking so we can reach voters in counties where

SF Rootstrikers PR Breakout:

Bonk: Ideas came out after the conference regarding spreading the word about corruption, especially via digital media.   If people are interested in working on digital media please contact Sarah Bonk at binki...@mac.com.

Deb says that digital media should be a lead up to a specific action.

Future Actions/Brainstorming:

Ben wondered if we could convince the SF Library Book club (called One City One Book) to have Republic Lost as one of their books.

Deb floated the idea that we have some sort of creative anti-corruption competition.  Contestants could create a YouTube video, song, or some other artwork that talks about corruption and the root problem.  It would be similar to the “Make Corruption Your Issue” campaign except there would be prizes for the best entries.
