LGBTQ ISSUES IN MENTORING

Did you know that LGBTQ middle school students in the SFUSD attempt suicide at a rate that is more then five times the rate of non-LGBTQ students? Join Christian Rummell & Ilsa Bertolini to learn about bullying, homophobia, coming out, and boundaries with respect to LGBTQ issues.

 

Participants will:

• Explore opportunities for using mentoring as a support for LGBTQ youth 
• Receive an overview of research on school climate and risks that LGBTQ youth face
• Explore strategies to intentionally strengthen their own mentoring relationships
