Hi everyone, my (overloaded) astrophotography tripod finally gave up and I'm looking for a new one. Does anyone have an extra one they'd be willing to sell?

Ideally, I'd be interested in a EQ-6 or CGEM tripod. But if you have any other, I'd also be interested.

Thanks and clear skies!

Stefano

Last message just in case some folks missed this during the long weekend: I'm still (desperately) looking for a tripod, possibly the EQ-6 one.

Thanks!
Stefano

Hi Stefano,

Maybe consider the field tripod that came with the Meade 10" SCT's.  It will handle the LX-50's 55 pound payload along with the 27lb super wedge with no problem. I frequently see them advertised on CN for around $100.  After I deforked my 10" LX-50 I advertised the tripod and super wedge here but only sold the wedge to a buyer on CN.  Now, instead of selling it, I plan on using it for wide field astrophotography with a At 72mm AT72EDII.  It's overkill for that set-up but provides a solid support with a wide base plate for the iOptron mount to sit on.

Thanks for the suggestion Thomas! I would definitely consider that, but would prefer to buy locally if possible before going to Cloudynights.

Thomas that is a great suggestion. I sold my tripod for my LX200 12-in wish I would have thought of that before.

Stefano try looking on FB Marketplace too. I too  prefer to buy local first if possible. I put a post out not too long ago looking a piece of equipment and someone actually replied with a link to Agena Astro lol. Thankfully I was able to acquire it from a a member here before I had to go online.

An option that will be super sturdy and will hold almost any weight you can throw at it (well, to a limit, of course, and don't throw it at it, just place it carefully on top of it) is a surveyor tripod.
