CGE-1400 celestron 14" SCT for sale

I have reached the point in age and deteriorating health where I can no longer set up my 14" Celestron CGE-1400, and sadly must sell it.  I have lots of nice upgrades on it including XLT coatings, extra spare motors, TeleVue dielectric diagonal, astro-physics 2" optical back, and many TeleVue Nagler eyepieces, as well as many other accessories.  I have a full ad with details posted on Astromart but I really want to have someone local in the Bay Area get this so you can pick it up.  If interested please reply to J...@coalminetrading.com

I sold my C11 (perhaps too early) for the same reason.  Hoisting a C11 or worse, C14 onto a rather high mount when you know you have a history of back issues is a formula for pain.    Good luck, the C14 is a mighty fine instrument (for the young)

You know about the chair method right?  Place a medium sized cargo case pelican what have you on a starbound chair at the level height of the counterweight bar. Tighten down the C14 might have to lean in slightly. Add counterweights to pre determined balance point and raise the scope with a couple fingers to the home position.

That's method I use, now that I am no longer a "manly man" that could hoist it over my head.

I can't believe I used to just lift the damn thing....

I did that! Almost drop each time. The chair method came soon after via you tube. 

It was a major head slap 😂

I used to go observing with the C14 in the high sierra (alone :-)).  I had comments from an observing buddy that he might come up the next summer and find my mummified body crushed under the weight of the C14 OTA  LOL.
