Since the shower also coincides with mid week, it’s quite possible that Laguna Mountain BLM (site 1) could be a good choice. It’s got elevation, great darkness darn good SSE horizons and of course pit toilets and it’s free. If you’re not schlepping gear, site 5 slightly elevated above the parking lot and isolated by trees is also a good option.

While the link doesn't work, I think I know the area you mean.  This is a similar driving distance to Lake San Antonio, so what is the advantage?   Just the cheaper camping fee?
