Hi TAC Folks!
I am selling my land in Bonny Doon, which I bought for astronomy.
It's a flat, sunny 1.17-acre parcel sitting around 2500 feet elevation,
so it is safely above the marine layer most of the time.
The skies are great for our area - the Milky Way shows clearly overhead,
and the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is easy to see naked eye.
The parcel also has very good horizons.
As an added bonus, the immediate neighbors have always been fantastic about keeping their outside lights off at night.
While I've not taken the time to do an SQM reading,
we've successfully hunted down 15th magnitude galaxies through the eyepiece.
During my time living there, I owned a wide variety of equipment, including:
* Binoculars
* A 12.5" Dobsonian
* A TEC 140 refractor on a Losmandy G11 mount (on a scope buggy)
* A 22" Webster Dobsonian with tracking
This flat parcel would easily support an observatory, or you could just roll your equipment right out of a garage like I used to.
Beyond the dark skies, it is a beautiful, peaceful place to live. It's so quiet at night that you can hear a single car coming from a mile away, and the mountain air is fresh and sweet. A park is right across the street.
It's only about 20 minutes by car to Santa Cruz and Felton,
so if you ever wanted to be able to do astronomy right in your backyard, and still live close enough to town to commute and go shopping, this is your place!
I would be very happy if a fellow amateur astronomer purchased it to enjoy living there, as I did.
If you or anyone you know might be looking for a great and convenient astro-location, please drop me a line.
Thanks!
All my best to the astro community!
