I’m planning an observing session at Henry Coe State Park on Wednesday, June 18. I’ll be there before sunset and hope to observe until 2. I know weekdays are hard for working folks, but I’d love to see some TACos up there.

I think that's what I viewed through with Mark McCarthy at 0x (or is it 1x?).  So does the NV wreck your NV or not?

The NV wrecks your NV. Use your non-dominant eye and batch your viewings. I am also currently testing an amber filter to see if it helps preserve the natural NV - I don't have enough data to reach a verdict yet.

I plan to do a mix of NVA and traditional astronomy.

Cool! I haven’t seen a C11 in ages. I’m willing to risk my night vision for some peeks through the nv eyepieces.  I’ll time views for my tea breaks. I’m also happy to share views as well.

BTW... the transparency forecast (by AstroPherics) for Coe is "excellent" thru 6 am tomorrow.  Seeing improves to average (acceptable) by 22:00, if it holds.   Looks to be a very good night.

Anyone else interested, come up and join in (just pay the use fee).  No charge to take peeks through my scope!
