True, as of now my plan is to go close to new moon, but it's hard to go in the middle of the week.

There's always someone observing at lake Sonoma over a new moon weekend so you should be fine. Saying that, I went on a Sunday two moons ago and had to return as there wasn't a single soul around.

Yeah I went in april and I was completely alone all night. I stayed, but would rather avoid that
