I have decided to move the higher email volume game to this other list: https://groups.google.com/g/tac-games - so as to not potentially overwhelm TAC.

A few people have already joined - any and all welcome.

I want to change the game to be more manageable:

1. One game a day.  Not and endless series.

2.  We play it in 20 questions fashion.

3.  I would like clues for astronomical object and constellation to be in the sky same night as the game. But this can be about anything astronomical.

4.  It is ok to post the days question to TAC as well, with a link to our new list.  This is just to keep others informed and maybe generate interest.  We don't guess answers on TAC.

5. There is no daily time to start, or end.  Any clue that goes totally "unguessed" for 24 hours will be black-holed, and I'll be the default new poster the next day.

6. Every new day is a new post - a new subject - we to not have endless threads.

7.  This list is world viewable and open to all (for now).

Games can be fun, and informative.  Lots of newbies here - lots of experienced, too.

Maybe Jamie can lock the existing The Game Clue thread on TAC so it doesn't get used?

Oh no! Long ago when we were kids, I quickly realized that you can binary-search an NGC number in 13 questions. Total 14 questions, the first question to determine which catalog. log₂(7840) ~ 12.9. You can't do this with the 3 million (and counting) PGC, so you better pick random PGC galaxies :-)
