Hi,

This year again I am bringing a significant number of astro and science books to give away for free at the swap meet at GSSP. I will also bring a smaller number of books for sale.

For whoever is going, it would be great to have more books available for all if you have some to bring.

Best,

Alan

Another great GSSP.

Cooler than last year. About a half an evening of clouds out of 5 days..

Great people. Great food. Great organization as always.

Here's a sample of the work I was able to do. NGC 6946

Happy to hear.

How's the new scope overall?

I saw that the new scope was beautiful when I met you on the field and we talked about how you built it.  Now I can see that it also performs beautifully.

The scope performed well.

LIke most really big scopes, it is subject to wind. That turned out to be the most difficult thing to deal with. I need to build a dob-style small shield for across from the eyepiece for dark sites, so I can ditch the shroud. I like the focal length (1500mm) and of course 13" aperture is a big deal. I was surprised at how much better it does than my trusty old C11.

Here's the collection of everything I took... (I tried posting these earlier, but I had to find a quick way to host them, as the files were too big for google groups).

M17, Catseye nebula, Tulip nebula, M29, NGC4725, Trifid, NGC5907, NGC6946

Enjoy!
pete
