This is a site report with some observing. Tonight the sky did some interesting stuff at the Pinnacles. It's not uncommon to see it socked in at sunset, then watch it clear within an hour. It did that - 80% of the sky was clear by 6:30, with lots of stars. On the BTIT scale it was Significantly Better Than In Town. Hazy though.
Did a tour of some fancy objects to the east where it was clearest, in Cassiopeia, Perseus and Andromeda. Then by 7:30, rather than the dark clouds at sunset, there were bright clouds everywhere.
It was a treat to see a sky of stars, heaps more than I've seen in weeks. My buddy Seiler wasn't there; had the place to myself. Parker the park ranger (nice, huh?) came by to say hey.
I was home by 9:30 with no complaints. Kept well within Kingsley's Rule, 3.5 hours there, 1.5 on the road.
My current favorite place to get eats on the way is Taqueria Pacheco, the play within a play inside La Placita. They make great super burritos and always give you a juicy big not-too-picante grilled jalapeño along with them.
