Beautiful image Richard! I did not know that such a thing existed.

From Wikipedia …

The Lunar X (or Werner X) is clair-obscur phenomenon visible on the Moon just before the first-quarter phase, where sunlight illuminates the rims of the Blanchinus, La Caille, and Purbach craters to form a bright 'X' shape. This fleeting visual effect occurs over a few hours along the lunar terminator.

There are other features like this, including a lunar ‘V’ which was also visible tonight. I’ll try and crop my image to show the ‘V’ tomorrow.

Another great word is the Italian chiaroscuro. Light and dark in a painting in this case the lunar canvas.
