C/2025 A6 Lemmons

Hi folks,

Due to a last-minute change in plans, I went to a spot in the Santa Cruz mountains this evening for a quick visit instead of heading to WH (my original plan for a night of observing).

Given the short time window I had this evening due to other commitments, I focused on one target: I observed the comet using 10x52 binoculars (both handheld and tripod-mounted) and a 110mm f/6 refractor with a 31mm Nagler eyepiece (22x magnification, little over 5mm exit pupil). Both setups clearly showed the comet's nucleus and tail, with the refractor providing better resolution.

The marine layer reduced light pollution, enhancing the view. C/2025 A6 Lemmons has a large and easily visible coma with minimal (binoculars in my case) aid from the darker location. Recommend heading out and observing it if you have the opportunity!

Hi Mahesh,

Many of the open space preserves locations should work for this target. I was at the Mindego Hill spot. You will need to obtain an after-hours permit from the website.
