Based on our recent advocacy success at re-gaining access to West Pinnacles parking lot, I thought I would ask my fellow TAC members to consider posting public comments on the 2 FCC proposals (orbital reflectors and more SpaceX satellites) described in the below email forwarded by my local San Mateo Astronomy Club.  The instructions are very well explained in the DarkSky.org latest news article on how to create an FCC account, personalize their provided template, upload your pdf attachment and submit your public comment to the FCC.  As a first timer, it took me a while to fill out all the online forms, but in the end it was gratifying.  Here's hoping my good feeling post submission leads to actual desired results.

Thanks for considering this,
Frank

To All Club Presidents and ALCors:

A company called Reflect Orbital in California has submitted a proposal to the FCC to offer, for a fee, reflected spot sun lighting from space. According to the reflectorbital.com website, they propose to put 50,000 or more mirror satellites in orbit by 2035.

The period for making public comment to the FCC ends very soon, on March 9. Information about the proposal and instructions on making public comment can found at the following link. If this is something you feel you should share with your members, please feel free.

If you are hesitant to click on the link, you can go to the darksky.orgwebsite and find the comment instructions there:
  • https://darksky.org (or just search for darksky.org
  • click on the three parallel lines at the top menu bar
  • click on News
  • at the right, click on Latest
  • look for "Two Satellite Proposal Threatens the Night Sky"
Thank you for your time.

Retired people unite!

I hope you win but I've already gone solar long ago.

Imagers can remove all that in post and aren't on board.

To reiterate, go solar.

I've seen perfect solar many times, in fact just this past weekend I caught that glimpse of white light visual light view through our baader solar film of massive life affirming sun spot / action.

Later a bright region in H-a settled down and reminds all things end.

Still later another amazing CaK view through the 101mm  shows the beginnings down below that can be taken in later in the H-a aftermath at the higher elevation off the sun.

Ponder. Get grounded. You gotta plant your feet firmly to the ground to jump higher into the sky.

Perfect moments at night? A few, in like 20 years.

Get perfect and aim higher to fight for your right to see out there where we come from.
