I’ve got a campsite reserved and plan to observe at the overflow lot. Moonrise is sometime after 1am, I haven’t checked for the exact time.

I’d love to have some company! I’ll be bringing a 5” refractor.

Happy to head up for some imaging.

I’m a most likely for heading up. Would be there around 8:30PM. There’s a high chance I have something to do the following morning early so if I head up I’ll probably leave a little early as well. I’ll update as we get closer to the date.

Hi
Does the overflow parking lot require a gate code? I plan to be there Friday night too

Yes, the overflow/astronomy lot does have a combination lock.  I can privately give out the combination.

The NWS forecast for Friday at Henry Coe SP says the temperature will still be in the 90's at and after 6pm. Very hot day and night.

With the great high pressure heat dome this week, clear skies, steady seeing and excellent transparency look quite enticing.  No complaints. Putting up with it fine.

Backyard astro tonight.

This has got to have been one of the longest stretches of purely clear nights I have seen, and it seems it will continue now that the moon is going away.   Good observing to all.  I'm having fun in the backyard with wide field narrowband.

At Coe, has anybody explored the "Hunting Hollow" parking lot as an alternative?   I presume it has no particular advantages over the lot currently used.  It's a little further from the lights of the bay, but not much.   Looking on streetview, there does not appear a gate, and you can go quite far, eventually on less paved road.  The park says it is open 24/365.

Brad - If I'm thinking of the right place, Hunting Hollow parking is in a canyon.  I've hiked the area many times but not for a while, and recall steep climbs starting out.

Totally enjoying the backyard wide field narrowband.  Even the moon couldn’t dim it!
