Astronomy and Safari in Africa

Hi,

I have a friend who wants to go on a Safari in Africa and I just want to see a truly dark sky, bonus points for the Southern sky.
Does any of you have any similar experience to share, about doing a safari and astronomy in Africa? 

As a side note there is an article in the sky and telescope this months about the best dark sky locations all over the word. I haven't read it yet but I am already dreaming.

My wife is wanting to go to Kenya and I was flat out against the idea for several reasons we won't go into. 

But then I checked the latitude and proximity to major cities, particularly anything south that would muck things up and it's looking like I need to change my tune.

We have family who have been to Namibia, and I've read about it from other angles. Germans really like the skies there, apparently like the hosts at Tivoli Astrofarm.

I have been to Kenya/Tanzania/Kruger NP in South Africa few times on wildlife trips and love those places.
