Hi Everyone.

We have 4 potential attendees now

Bret
Gopak
Arvind
Tanveer

the plan is to head to williams hill turnoff

36.02006487788991, -120.94864905085771
This is where the gravel road starts for williams hill campgrouind. This spot is 2 hours from SJc airport

We assess the road surface and quality and then decide whether to go on this road for about 7 miles to the spot.

If road is not good, then we head to LSA which is 33 miles from this spot (Field of dreams)

This detour adds 20 minutes to driving time to LSA field of dreams.

Here is it visualised, you can see the small detour from 101 highway

We will also start syncing up in the confirmed group on the day of the trip so that we can maximize our LSA cost.

Thanks
Tanveer

I'm staying Friday night - with GSSP coming up, I can't sell my wife on doing more than 1 night this time.

Hi Surya
We will sync up here, but during journey I will update on discord too once we have all participants.

The idea is to start on our own, and recoup at the Love's gas station near Salinas at 4-430pm. The first destination is an hour from there, and we can scout the location and if we don't like it, we can actually be at LSA before 630pm.

Current list :
Surya
Vishal
Bret-M
Gopal K
Tanveer

The decision step would be to see amount of space at the williams hill and also proximity of dirt road. If we feel i can get dusty etc., LSA is the better option, though williams hill wins the altitude game and south side darkness.

We will camp the night and head out.  I am thinking of staying in a hotel near Pinnacles and doing a non camping late night imaging session in the Peaks view parking lot on east side, and heading back to Bay area sunday 3am or so.

Its best to have even number of cars in order to maximise parking cost efficiency at LSA.

So two more people - cmon :)

Hey Tanveer,
Can we test Discord with everyone tonight - I'm not sure I'm on the right channel. If you post on Discord, I shall try to reply.

I am also keen to join. It gets slightly cloudy (10-15%) during 11am to 2am.

Sure Komal!

Here is the plan - Though tomorrow afternoon we will use discord for live communication

1. Reach Tesla Supercharger at King city around 4-4:30 - Gopal needs to charge his Tesla
2. Reach willims hill by 5:30 (its 40 minutes from king city) and spend 30 minutes scouting for dead end hills
3. If we can't find anything - LSA is backup plan

Do we have an address for the Tesla supercharger at Kings City?

I am unable to get out of work commitment till 3.30 pm at the earliest and kings city is 2+hrs for me. I will pass.

I don't think it's feasible for some to make King's City between 4:00 and 4:30. The original plan was to meet in Salinas around that time which is about an hour closer (42 minutes without traffic). I recommend we stock with that plan and have a second meeting point in King's City at 5:30. Would that work better for people?

I will be charged and ready to leave whatever time you guys want to meet- since the WH site is only 28 miles and 40 minutes, leaving Kingcity around 5:30 should be more than enough time to go to LSA if needed.

Seriously thinking - all depends on when I can head out (I am in Dublin, so an hour behind the SJ folks). Can you send me your contacts at surfi...@gmail.com? That way, I can coordinate with you guys.
