Skipping GSSP? Or cancelling due to weather? Well I will be at Fremont peak Friday night. to enjoy the skies before the monsoon rolls in.

Jamie D and I had a great night of observing last night at PinnWest. We got the same marine layer coverage down here over the Salinas Valley. Got nice and dark, SQM-L 21.44 overhead in Lyra by midnight. I observed with my 6" refractor and Jamie a 13" Dob. We packed up by 12:30am. I stayed over night down the hill from PinnWest at the Motel 6 in Soledad. Highly recommended!

Nice Peter!  Coe was good too, but a bit of persistent breeze.  Nanarrete and I brought 10" Dobs, Richard also had a 100mm bino on a parallelogram mount.  Ray Wong was there with an NP101 and talkative SeeStar.

I was limiting at about 13.5 on galaxies (detecting), but the most challenging was the distant globular NGC 6229 @ 100K LY - just a very dim unresolved brightening in the background, ID'd by an adjacent pair of landmark stars close by.

Fun night!

Oh, The view of the Lagoon in the binos - awesome!  Thanks Richard.
