I’m planning to observe at the Lone Rock lot (adjacent to the Sonoma County Archery range) on Saturday night. Conditions look good at this point — clear, dry and good to excellent transparency. I should arrive at least 30 minutes before sunset, which is at 8:12.

I'm thinking of doing likewise. It's been way too long since I've been
out and I'd love to observe with you.

Unfortunately, the nearby Liberty Glen campground is closed and the lot is designated “day use” (though we don’t see park rangers).

I drive back to Albany (1 hr 25 min) as do most of the others, but you could look into motels or other options along 101.

I just looked up Allstays Camp & RV. There’s  a KOA north of Geyserville and Spring Lake Regional Park Campground west of Santa Rosa.

I’ve always driven back from Lake Sonoma. It once got really hard and I just pulled over at an exit off 101 to sleep in my vehicle. Got knocked out cold for 6 hours. That was a very dangerous thing to do (from a crime perspective) and I would not do that again.

I’ve therefore been avoiding LS / Pinnacles / Henry Coe and such places where I cannot nap in my vehicle before I drive home.

Thanks guys for the replies about overnighting at Lake Sonoma, Lone Rock.  Guess I’ll have to wait until Liberty Glen campgrounds is reopened.  I’m further south than you are Steve, I’m in Fremont, another 30-45 minutes.

Cheers, 73s, Clear Skies and Clear Blocks,

There is a campground at Coe, and we regularly sleep in our cars.

Remember to check out SN2026kid in NGC 5907 is you like, it was pretty easy in my 28-inch last night, so it should be easy in Steve's 24-inch and also visible in your 18-inch albeit tough.

Regards
Akarsh
