Looks like this will happen. If all goes well, I plan to reach before sundown on Friday, and stay through Saturday night if not Sunday night.

Why aren't you posting this OI on CDSE?

Sorry my bad, it should be a CDSE OI.

Its actually fine to mention this OI here on TAC (where most people are), it didn't identify the location (by place name of coordinate).

Here, for those wondering what CDSE is.  Hopefully that link works.

Akarsh - have fun at Tranquility Base.  Onward to Coe tonight.  And off to a new (to me) site next week!

I unfortunately had a few work obligations come up, but obviously I carried my laptop and Internet with me. Whether I am working or observing, I will be at TB :-)

Some of you responded off list to arrive tomorrow, hope to see you there.

We had a once-in-a-year kind of forecast on Astrospheric for LSA and TB for tonight and tomorrow night; however the NBM has degraded. Tomorrow night still looking good. DM me off list for coordinates if needed; you will most likely need a medium to high clearance vehicle to get to where I will set up although a skilled driver may manage a hatchback or short wheel base sedan. Aim to arrive before dark if this is your first time.

Why are you guys all going this weekend? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't new moon next weekend?
I was planning on going over Saturday night next weekend - I hope already since if you are going to go around then...😜

Correct, five hours of spring galaxies between sunset and moonrise.

Fair enough, but nobody bails on next weekend because of this one!

Who knows what the weather will be like next weekend? Have to make observations while the photons shine. This is already more than one GSSP night.

BTW, to anyone coming tomorrow:

1. Both water crossings are open

2. Bring bug spray. If you can, bring a Thermacell / outdoor mosquito repellent. I forgot the latter and am regretting it.

There was some competition from general campers for the site but I snagged it first so we’re good for tomorrow. TB is getting popular among non-astronomers.

Clear Skies
Akarsh

Are we talking TB proper or RD6? Seems like everybody winds up at the latter. Either way, I’m in for tonight.

I’m at Rd6, specifically on the two-track that heads to the left after the ruts on Rd6 — so not the site where I was set up with you in Aug 2024 but the other one. Cant remember if you’ve been on this side. My guess is if your vehicle can handle the main Rd6, it can handle the two track, although it may take some special maneuvering to get onto the two-track… DM me if you want exact coordinates
